Publishing Model

Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to Computational Psychology undergo a mandatory, two-step peer review procedure aimed at ensuring both rigor and transparency:

  1. Double-Blind Assessment
First, each manuscript is evaluated in a double-blind manner. Authors’ and reviewers’ identities remain confidential during this stage, allowing the work to be judged solely on its scientific merit.

  2. Open Review Publication
Once a manuscript is accepted, the peer review reports—along with the reviewers’ identities—are published alongside the article. We believe this openness promotes accountability, offers valuable insights into the peer review process, and supports the professional development of early-career researchers.

Gold Open Access
Computational Psychology follows the gold Open Access model. Articles are freely accessible online upon publication, removing any barriers to readership and maximizing the reach of your research. An Article Processing Charge (APC) of €1000 applies to accepted manuscripts, which covers editorial support, the peer review process, production, and ongoing maintenance of the journal’s online platform.

APC Allocation and Reviewer Compensation
To recognize reviewers’ essential contributions, Computational Psychology employs a unique revenue-sharing model for the APC:

  • 50% of the APC supports the journal’s operational and developmental costs.

  • The remaining 50% is distributed among the reviewers who have provided feedback and helped refine the manuscript, reflecting our commitment to valuing their effort and expertise.

Additionally, authors can offer an optional “tip” to reviewers. Such tips go entirely (100%) to the reviewers, reinforcing our belief in fair compensation and gratitude for the detailed, constructive evaluations.

Invited Submissions
Manuscripts submitted by personal invitation from the Editorial Board are exempt from the APC. We encourage leading experts, as well as emerging voices in the field, to share their insights with our readers without incurring any publication fees.
